Hubungan Pola Makan dan Tingkat Stres Akademik dengan Gejala Gastritis pada Mahasiswa Program Studi Kesehatan Masyarakat
Abstract
Gastritis is an inflammation of the stomach lining that is commonly found among university students and may be influenced by various factors, particulary dietary pattern and high levels of academic stress. This study aimed to determine the relationship between dietary patterns, academic stress levels, and gastritis symptoms among students of the Public Health Study Program, University of Pekalongan. A quantitative study with a cross-sectional design was conducted involving 158 respondents selected from a population of 260 students using the Slovin formula. Data were collected using dietary patterns, academic stres level, and gastritis symptoms questionnaires that had been tested and proven valid (r count > r table) and reliable (Cronbach’s Alpha ≥ 0.70). The data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analyses with Fisher’s Exact Test. The results showed that the majority of respondents had moderate dietary patterns (74.1%), moderate academic stress levels (77.2%), and mild gastritis symptoms (70.5%). Bivariate analysis revealed a significant relationship between dietary patterns and gastritis symptoms (p = 0.004), as well as between academic stress levels and gastritis symptoms (p = 0.008). Therefore, it can be concluded that dietary patterns and academic stress levels are significantly associated with gastritis symptoms among students at the Public Health Studi Program, University of Pekalongan. Higher education institutions are recommended to provide promotive programs such as time management education and counseling facilities to reduce the risk of gastritis caused by academic pressure.
