Study English From Home as The Physical Distancing Against of The Coronavirus Pandemic

Abstract

The coronavirus pandemic is the phenomena issue ongoing in the world today, cause by sever acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The outbreak was first identified in Wuhan, China, in December 2019. The World Health Organization (WHO) declared the outbreak a public health emergency of international concern. The pandemic has caused global social and economic disruption, including the education. The physical distancing is the best way to cut off the virus spread, by this action the government of Indonesia has declared to do physical distancing, the worker should work from home (WFH) and its effort to the education, the Education Minister has declared that the students should be study from home (SFH). These program has declared too in Budi Darma University Medan, it’s declared that the students should study from home (SFH), and the information has declared that the students and lecturers should be studied at Google Classroom, and to support the practice the lecturer can be used another apps such as: Zoom Meeting, YouTube, Telegram, or WhatsApp. This new program is not a new method for the English lecturer, because the English lecturer always do this learning English on social media, but the voice recording is different, this is a new method to practiced learning English for reading skill, usually the lecturer used the social media to sending video file practice to increase the students ability. By this method, the researcher has found the class ability on reading practice, it can be shown from the rank table. There are three learning process of study such as; join the class group in Google Classroom, and also Telegram/WhatsApp, next the lecturer will be send the material/sample in the Google Classroom for study, and the last, the students will be send the file on the class group in apps. These method has positive and negative effects while study at home on coronavirus pandemic, the students can be focused on study to practice English, but the students cannot understand at all for the material that the lecturer gave and the lecturer should be send the voice record that can be heard to the students to practice. The full internet signal is needed to study at home that can’t be reach for all of the students
